Hi Everyone,
I made this card a little while ago. I have always liked it for its simplicity…and those cute Lawn Fawn stamps! It also sparked a little self-imposed challenge. (Tip: this is a great way to kick start your creativity if you are in a bit of a creative funk!) The card below was coloured with Distress Inks and Distress Markers but when it was finished I wondered how it might look if I had used a different colouring medium. I decided to find out! I made the same card another five times using distress markers/inks, Copic markers and Inktense pencils. It was fun to challenge myself in this way. The funniest part of the challenge was that I still liked the original card the best. I showed the results to a couple of people and they all agreed with me. 🙂
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you are having a happy day!
Happy Stamping!

“Conquering copics” – great goal – and I believe you’ll do so! As for me, my Copics and I just eye one another warily 🙂 Thank you so much for the Tombow ‘shout out’ – I’m ‘this close’ to ordering a set (one of the sets of 10, either from Simon Says or the Tombow site, directly. Apparently they ship orders for free – over $25 – to Canada. Then again, I’m also ‘craving’ a few more things at SSS, so…decisions, decisions! Again – so glad to have your artistry greeting me daily – inspiring, enlightening and just plain FUN!!!

lol I love that, C…you and your Copics eyeing each other warily. Don’t be afraid. It really comes down to practice….and paper choices. Some papers work better than others. I think it is helpful to find a stamp which has a coloured label on it. Stamp it up and then try and colour like the label. I STILL do things like that. Have fun shopping. 🙂 Thanks for your enthusiasm once again.
Darling day-brightening, smile-making card! The bee and birds are charming and that mushroom is such a cutie-patootie! Delightful+++ As for video tutorials: YES, YES, and YES, please!! I’m hopeless and helpless with colouring! My attempts with copics usually ends up in a mess, so I’m thinking about Tombows…advice, ideas, videos – most welcomed and most appreciated! Thank you for bringing a sparkle to my day!!

Oh, thank you again, C! I’m no expert when it comes to colouring but I really do enjoy it. I think it comes down to finding a medium you are happy with, and the right paper, and then playing. I am not so great with copics (yet! lol I do plan to conquer them!) but I think that is because I tend to favour watercolours – more forgiving, in my opinion. I LOVE Tombows! When I first started stamping, years ago now, they were my go-to choice. They are great for everything – you can colour them straight onto paper, or use them as a watercolour, or a combination of the two. There are tonnes of colours too. I use them with water, or with the blender pen. Such a great product! Can you tell I’m a fan? lol Thanks again for your sweet words! Hope you have a great day!
Such a happy card. And I must admit that I’m loving that little mushroom! Love the whole card, Kylie! You inspired me to pick up my first Lawn Fawn set. It’s A Birdie Told Me, with mostly speech bubbles, because I can’t color like you can! Lol! But I’ll see what comes of using this. Your cards always bring a smile to my face, and this one is adorable. Love the sky. One of these days you’ll have to do some video tutorials! Have a good day. Oh, and my kids should have landed in Auckland by now. Wave toward them! ; )
Oh Bev, I am so thrilled I inspired you and I *cannot* wait to see what you come up with. I have that stamp set too. We should do our own little challenge. I’ll try and make something using that stamp set this week. 🙂 I had never thought of doing video tutorials…until now. lol I’ll give it some thought – thank you! Hope your children are settling in well! Have a great day!
