Hi Everyone,
Wow, has it really been that long since I have blogged?! Sadly, it has been almost that long since I have created too. There has been so much going on lately.
The biggest news is I recently completed the Standard and Intermediate Copic Certification courses. Yes, that’s right I am a Copic Intermediate Certified Designer! The courses were run over two days and they were really informative. I had a lot of the basics down prior to the course (particularly the Standard course) but it was great to learn lots of tips and tricks from an expert. I think I have learnt a great deal about taking my colouring to the next level. Unfortunately, I haven’t had any time to practice so I think it will be a while before all this new knowledge makes a difference to the cards I’m creating. Practice is definitely the key to success!
Here’s a look at my certificates and the badge they awarded us at the end of the course:
The second exciting bit of news is that I have recently enrolled to do some further study. I have had the bug to return to study for a while but have been trying to ignore it! The University of Tasmania advertised an “Introduction to Family History” course and I felt powerless to resist the urge to enrol. lol I’ve actually been researching my family history, on and off, since 2002. There have been occasions where I have toyed with the idea of becoming a professional genealogist, so this course is a perfect fit for me. It started on Monday and I cannot wait to sink my teeth into it. Unfortunately, this is also a reason I might be even more sporadic in posting on my blog.
The third exciting bit of news is I have launched a channel on YouTube – Studio4490. I have been thinking about doing videos for a long time not but I’ve always been way too shy to do so. When I returned home with a rather large haul of goodies recently, I decided it was time to start my channel. lol How did I make that link? Easy! My first video is a craft haul video. My thinking is I can use the videos to hold myself accountable and ensure I actually use my new goodies and not just hoard them. Plus I really love seeing other crafters haul videos and thought maybe people like might to see mine. The one unexpected benefit I have received from recording this video is that I really looked at the items as I was filming. You might notice the odd pause – this is where my brain was thinking “ooh, I could do X”. lol I would like to try making more videos down the track, as time permits. I would eventually like to do some process videos as well as craft hauls and reviews. Will just wait and see where this leads. I watched the video again after I uploaded it – argh! That’s a bit scary! I’ve realised the sound is rather low so you might need to put it allll the way up. I also realise I use the words beautiful, lovely and gorgeous a lot. haha
Without further ado, here’s my very first video…
Hope you enjoy it! I am so very sorry for this long absence. I’ve missed seeing all of your creations and I feel very much out of the crafty loop. I hope you are all happy, well and crafting up a storm!
Happy Stamping!

Congratulations on your certification! You better share some of that awesome knowledge with us, yea?! And that Family History class sounds so intriguing! It’s inspired me to check what kind of awesome classes are in my neighborhood. Once life stops being so hectic, I’d love to take a class or 4, myself.
I came across your YT channel quite coincidentally. I was looking for some crafty hauls (shhhh! my guilty pleasure!) and I found your haul. Then I did a total double-take when I saw Studio 4490 and heard you say “Kylie”. Immediately subscribed! I can’t wait to see what all you’ll share.
I love accountability. It’s the perfect way to make sure you keep doing things. That OHC challenge has held me super accountable and creating cards again and again. It’s pretty awesome!
Thanks so much, Elle! I think you’ve got a great handle on it already but I will try and impart whatever knowledge I can. The course is so interesting. You should see what is around when you’ve got the time. It is rather demanding though.
Craft hauls are (one of) my guilty pleasures too. How funny that is how you find me. Thank you SO much for the support!
Your OHC challenge has been amazing. Think you should start a blog…. 😉
I’m back: super congrats on your Copic Certification! I’m thinking your ‘practice’ can take place as part of your video series *grin* And your decision to enroll in the Family History course: so inspiring! I love that it ‘called’ to you…and I know you’ll excel in whatever the requirements are. Professional genealogist…how fabulous a career path would that be! Cheering for all the way!
More hugs!!

Thank you! 😀 I hope to try and film process videos but I’m such a slow poke. Thank you for the nice words about my course too. It is so interesting thus far. 🙂 hugs!
KYLIE! First, I’m jumping up and down with wild excitement at seeing your post and WOW! Talk about making a return that has me – already – craving more! Your video is not only a brilliant way to hold yourself accountable for your purchases (I’m so not accountable *grin*), but an EXCELLENT way for us to learn about and, perhaps even participate alongside, your creative process. I’m totally stoked with this project, so, yes please – bring ’em on! Whatever you decide, I’ll take it all, with appreciation, joy and rapt attentiveness! Your video, my friend, is wonderfully informative and delightfully engaging! Such a treat to hear your voice and have you walk through some nifty items. Bottom line: I’ve missed you immensely and I’m glad you’re back, with ‘added bonus’ to come!
We’re just back from some travels and will be embarking on more (major road trip), so I’ll be in touch as soon as I can!
Hugs galore and tons of love coming your way!

haha, I’m not accountable either, C, but I’m *trying*. Thank you so much for your encouragement. I was a nervous wreck uploading it. When it didn’t upload after the third time, I thought the universe was trying to tell me something. lol Thank you soooo much! Hope the travels have been fun and the next major road trip is even better! hugs!
I’m down to the wire here…company coming and still have those last minute chores to get to…you know, the ones you can’t do until right before guests arrive. But I saw you up on my right sidebar, and had to stop and check out your video! Well done you!!! So glad to hear you’re going back to school too; and for Family History too. Love that! Copic certified…dang girl…you’re way to busy to craft, lol!!! Good to see you again in blogland. I’ve missed you! Keep those cards and videos coming!
Thank you so much for taking time from your busy schedule to comment both here and on my youtube post. Means the world to me, Bev! Thank you! lol You’re right. I am too busy to craft. Need to retire. haha
