Hi Everyone,
As one year comes to a close and a new one begins, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank each one of you for taking the time to visit my blog. An extra big thank you goes out to those of you who take the time to comment and email. I really do appreciate every sweet comment you share with me.
I’m not one for New Year’s Resolutions but there has been one thing which has popped up for me a few times this past year which I need to address. I’m sure I’m not alone with this one either. I often put on crafting videos when I sit down to create (I’ll share some of my favourite sites/artists in another post). For the most part, it is incredibly inspiring watching the creative processes of others. At the same time, however, I end up stuck in a weird vortex where I’m watching creativity at work but I am not actually doing anything creative myself. At times, I’ve also found my creativity impeded as I judge my own abilities too harshly, I find that I won’t use particular products as other creatives have used similar, and at times the SAME ideas to the ideas I have had (this happens a lot around new release time where it seems as though everyone is using the same product!). It’s at this stage when I need to remind myself to step away from the computer and just PLAY! Forget what everyone else is doing and just do your own thing!
I keep saying to myself that I really need to spend more time creating than I do watching others create. I made it into a jpeg and thought I would share it with you all. Maybe it will resonate with you as well.
And on that note, it is time to step away from the computer and actually go and play! Happy New Year to you all! May 2016 bring you every happiness!
Happy Stamping!

Have a super happy new year, Kylie, filled with prosperity, hood health and an always-present creative mojo. I hope you’ll continue to be inspired and to share your crafty journey with us. It’s always a treat to read about your projects!
I’ve also noticed that sometimes I spend too much time watching crafty videos instead of making something myself. The other issue that pops up is that I’ll make a card that I think is unique and wait to post it. But then a famous crafter uses that same stamp/technique/color combo and I worry that people will think I’m copying them by sharing my project…
And, it’s kind of silly because a) it’s mighty unlikely that said crafter even knows who I am, let alone thinks I’m offending them with my work. And b) it’s not a competition on who’s going to make that idea first. I mean, even if we think of a completely same idea, our approaches will probably be pretty different.
So, I’m thinking that I’ll spend a little less time browsing cards and videos for inspiration and more time just creating without worrying about it. I like that mindset much better.
Thank you so much, Elle! I very much appreciate your kind wishes and I wish the same for you. 🙂
I do the same thing! I think we over think it sometimes too. There have been plenty of times I have been in the same position. I’ve even posted things and then seen something so similar – sometimes they have posted before me and sometimes after. I think we have to stop worry about it so much and just do our own thing. Coincidences like this are bound to happen especially when so many of us are using the same supplies. hugs!
Hey girl! Your work captured my full and complete attention the first time I happened upon it. You’ve got massive loads of talent and I’m blown away every time I pop by your blog. And I’m glad to see your NY’s resolution…to create more, and stress less! Good idea. I, on the other hand, need to clean my house more…yeah, like that’s going to happen!! I love your work. Period. You need to post once a week at least so I can spend time drooling here! Then, you need to save your pennies and come and see me in person!!!!! Blessed New Year sweet friend. xoxo
Hi Ms Bev, so good to chat with you today! 🙂 Thank you soooo very much for your kind words too. As I said this morning, you have totally made my day with the things you have said. I will definitely endeavour to post more regularly especially since I am *always* creating. lol Would definitely love to come visit!! 🙂
Oh, I do understand this quest for ideas and new products as I think there are a lot of us out there in the same boat so yeah…this is a good resolution. Trust thy inner creativity and just let it flow…but still search but less time at it. Sounds good to me, Kylie. Thanks for a fun year watching you. You continue to inspire us.
Hi Mandy, thank you so much for stopping by and for taking the time to write. I really appreciate it. Thank you too for the lovely words – very much appreciated! 🙂 I love your comment – trust thy inner creativity and just let if flow! Words to live by! 🙂
