Hi Everyone,
The other day I was browsing through flickr and came across a fabulous card by the enormously talented Elizabeth Allan. I loved the overall look of the card- it all just works! Aside from that gorgeous cat, I particularly loved how she had done the background and immediately knew I wanted to try something similar.
The cards aren’t quite what I was picturing when I first sat down to play but are they ever? lol I think they are a good starting point and I might play around with the idea a bit more – try some different mediums, maybe pop dot the cat instead of the entire panel. My favourite thing about the cards is the glossy accents I added to the sunglasses and the glitter added to the lei.
Card 1: The background is a lot bolder on this card. I used distress inks and used the sponge applicators to apply the ink to the background. I then spritzed the background with water to soften it a little.
Card 2: I was aiming for a softer background to see how this would look. I scribbled distress markers onto a craft sheet and then spritzed the ink with water. I swiped the sponge applicator through the watery ink and then applied it to the cardstock. I thought the sky ended up too pale so went over it again, when it was dry, with a little more of the distress ink.
I hope you enjoy your day!
Happy Stamping!

Kylie the depth and vibrancy of color on your cards is incredible. Loved the “glossed” accents too!
Thanks, Elizabeth! I really do enjoy colouring. I’m still learning all about shading, etc, but it’s so fun. The sunglasses look so good now they have properly dried too. Thank so much for visiting today AND for the inspiration you provide! 🙂
